Principal's Message

Aloha and welcome to Kula Elementary School!

It is truly an honor to serve as principal of such a special place and to partner with the families and community of Upcountry Maui.

At Kula Elementary, we believe every child has unique strengths and unlimited potential. We believe our role is to help students discover their strengths, develop confidence in themselves, persevere through challenges, think critically, take meaningful risks in their learning, and experience the joy that comes from learning and growing.  We also believe a well-rounded education extends beyond core academics.  Kula students have opportunities to explore the arts, physical education, technology, agriculture, Hawaiian Studies, and other enriching experiences.  We proudly represent our school in sports, including cross-country, track, volleyball, and basketball.  Through these experiences, students develop creativity, teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship, leadership, and school pride.  Guided by our General Learner Outcomes (GLOs) and HIDOE HA framework, we intentionally nurture students’ sense of belonging, responsibility, aloha, and connection to one another and their community.

We believe that strong schools are built on strong connections.  We are committed to creating a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment where students know and feel they belong.  Through traditional community events such as our annual Harvest Festival, Color Run, PTA-sponsored events, La ‘Ohana, and other community celebrations, we bring students, families, staff and community members together.

Kula Elementary has a long tradition of excellence, supported by exceptional educators, engaged families, and a caring community. Together, we are committed to providing every student with the knowledge, skills, character, and confidence to succeed.
